Time Soothes All...? - Moorlach Update - October 11, 2007

Last month County Supervisor John Moorlach was calling for County Treasurer/Tax Collector Chriss Street's head.

This month...

From Moorlach Update - Daily Pilot - October 11, 2007

"Last month I put an item on the Board of Supervisors’ agenda to revoke the investment authority from the Treasurer-Tax Collector and transfer it to the County’s Chief Financial Officer. This was done because of all the media reports of our Treasurer’s litigation with his prior employer, Federal investigations into certain transactions that he entered into with his prior employer, and a District Attorney investigation on his purchasing activities in his current capacity.

I felt that the amount of time and travel involved with these activities would be too distracting for our Treasurer in performing his duties and to provide a level of comfort to the County’s citizens while these impositions on him were being pursued to their final conclusion. My motion failed for lack of a second. The next motion was to review the situation in one month. Accordingly, this matter is scheduled to be revisited at next Tuesday’s Board meeting. However, it will not be of an urgency nature as I had proposed last month.
