Lose/Lose Situation - White Elephant Edition

Anyway you look at it, putting a new City Hall into the parklands behind the Newport Beach Library will cost the City and the residents.

From the Daily Pilot article, "City Hall to Go To Ballot" is this quote from the opposition group Parks are Priceless' representative Allan Beek:

"...said Monday the group will sue the city if the measure goes to a vote."

So let me get this straight.
  • The City HAS to put this initiative on the ballot because Bill Ficker and his group went by the book and collected lots and lots of valid signatures.
  • Parks are Priceless says, "Screw Procedure" and "Screw Protocol" and will sue the City.
Hey people! Instead of costing the City unnecessary dollars paid to outside Attorneys (because our million dollar City Attorney's office cannot handle normal Attorney work...) to fight your lawsuit, why don't you get productive and put the concerted effort to flood our mailboxes with reasons to vote AGAINST the initiative?

If Parks are Priceless are trying to get sympathy for their cause, suing the City isn't a good way to earn it...

You already have MY vote, are you trying to lose it?
