Governor Huckabee's Coming to Town!

From the email of Newport Beach resident/Lincoln Club of Orange County Deity Buck Johns is this:

Fellow Republican:

Governor Mike Huckabee is an old friend from Arkansas, my home state, and he's running a helluva campaign for President. Nobody is confused about the difficulty of his overtaking the front runners.....but, the smart money has him a top tier pick for Veep. Either Mitt or Rudy will need a solid guy from the South...and Mike has acquitted himself extremely well throughout this campaign....particularly during the national debates. Whatever happens, Mike will be a key in national Republican politics for a long time to come.

Colleen and I are holding a reception at our home for Mike on Monday, 10/22 and would be highly honored if you could join us for the "complimentary" 6:00pm reception (see attached flyer). Could you also help by contributing $1,000 to help his campaign...and joining us for the 5:15pm VIP reception just before the general reception?

As we have been highly impressed with Mike, we're confident you will thoroughly enjoy hearing him in person.

Thanks for all you do for the cause!

Best,

Buck and Colleen.

It's also on the OCGOP Calendar:

Monday, 10/22/07
5:30 PM
Special Event

Where: The Johns Residence, Newport Beach

You are cordially invited to meet Presidential candidate and former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee from 5:30-7:30pm on Monday, October 22nd, 2007 at the home of Colleen & Buck Johns - 2600 Mesa Drive, Newport Beach. For more information or to RSVP, please contact Gina Malone at 949-885-6517 or email at ginamal@yahoo.com.

My question? While this event is "complimentary" why would anyone want to give him $1000 for his Presidential Campaign's VIP reception if, as Buck Johns says himself,

"...the smart money has him a top tier pick for Veep?"

I've heard Gov. Huckabee a few times (before he officially announced) and he's a great speaker, so if you have the chance, go out and see him...before he becomes our next Vice President.
