Light Saturday Reading

In a weekend full of sports, one seldom has time to sit down to read the paper or check your emails...

Anyway...

It appears that instead of filing his Conflict of Interest Forms, former City Attorney Bob Burnham decided to sever his consultant relationship with the City of Newport Beach, saying:

"Those attacks (regarding an accused Conflict of Interest between his role as City Attorney, and changing the Group Home ordinances creating a massive over concentration of them, while collecting money for his wife's Drug Court Program), he wrote, have created “a climate of fear, anger and distrust,” and he said he feared that climate would spread to and damage the work he and others have done to control the growth of John Wayne Airport."

No Bob, by not filing those conflict of interest forms and quitting instead, it makes you look real guilty and gives the appearance that you had something to hide.

If you had no Conflicts of Interest (regarding the Sober Living/Rehab home issue) then all you had to do was file the forms and it would have silenced your "attackers."

You are trying to deflect that by talking about the growth of John Wayne Airport, which by the way is still growing even with your consulting services at hand...

Funniest part of the article? Our City Manager Homer and his comments:

“Bob is irreplaceable as far as his technical knowledge and understanding of airport operations,” Bludau said. “It’s a huge loss to the whole community, because John Wayne Airport issues are at the top of the list of our residents’ priorities.”

But not at the top of our City Manager's priorities as evidenced by his previous quote in the LA Times:

"My nervousness will start Jan. 1, 2016, when the agreement goes away," Newport Beach City Manager Homer Bludau said.

Perhaps the residents and our City Manager should get on the same page...
