Councilwoman Leslie Daigle Fabricating Issues?

According to County Supervisor John Moorlach (who represents Newport Beach) she is...

Oh boy...

So on Thursday, the OC Register wrote an article on how the Back 9 Holes on the Newport Beach Golf Course were NOT going to be turned in a John Wayne Airport Parking Lot.

And Councilwoman Daigle patted herself on the back, saying:

"It demonstrated the power of the Internet as a tool for political activism," said Councilwoman Leslie Daigle, noting that hundreds of residents sent e-mails to elected officials decrying the plan."

This is, of course only because Councilwoman Daigle (because this is an issue she spearheaded) asked everyone to send emails to voice their displeasure over this plan.

Orange County Supervisor John Moorlach then sent out a little email saying,

"...we said early on that it would not be advisable." and

"...not put them (parking lot) on the door step of the airport."

And according to Barbara Venezia, Councilwoman Daigle used this issue to get an extra $2000 in her campaign account from the Golf Course operators.

So in Saturday's Daily Pilot is this article,

"
Airport denied paving through."

Which essentially repeats the OC Register's article, but this time, in addition to some more Back Patting by Councilwoman Daigle who...get this...

"Newport Beach Golf Course officials said Friday they will honor Councilwoman Leslie Daigle for her efforts to save the golf course. Local golf enthusiasts will recognized Daigle Dec. 19 at the Santa Ana High Quarterback Club golf tournament fundraiser at the golf course."

and

“We’re going to give Daigle an (Anaheim) Angels bat with her name on it that says, ‘Thanks for going to bat for Newport Beach Golf Course,’” said Newport golf supporter Keith Wyrick."

She's getting honored...for doing what?

You got it, for encouraging the City of Newport Beach to take an official stance, in May, and to ask all residents to deluge the County Supervisors with emails.

Here's the best part.

After reading the Daily Pilot article, what does County Supervisor John Moorlach do?

Here it is...from his MOORLACH UPDATE - Daily Pilot - December 1, 2007

...oh this is GOOD

"Allow me to get to the point, the letters and e-mails we received did nothing to influence my position, I already shared it. That's why I announced it early and often in public and in the media.

Here's a quote from my May 9 MOORLACH UPDATE e-mail:

"Last night Mario Mainero, my Chief of Staff, [and I] attended the Newport Beach City Council meeting to inform them that we have no intentions of paving over the back nine."

I wish to thank the many who communicated with my office for getting involved. I hope you feel comfortable in doing so in the future when we don't have a fabricated issue."

Did you see that?

SO WE DON'T HAVE A FABRICATED ISSUE!

Councilwoman Daigle grabbed an non-issue and made it an issue, to get awards and fundraising dollars...

...and County Supervisor Moorlach called her on it.
