Rallying Around John McCain in Newport Beach

It's happening...I think.

Can it be?

Conservative Orange County Republicans are rallying around Republican Presidential candidate John McCain?

They raised him $800,000.

Republican Party of Orange County Chairman Scott Baugh (who went to Iowa to make phone calls on behalf of former Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney) emceed the Newport Beach luncheon yesterday.

As longtime Senator John McCain supporter, and Newport Beach (albeit a very small part of Newport Beach) State Assemblyman Van Tran said in the Daily Pilot,

“I have seen supporters from Mitt Romney, [Mike] Huckabee, [Fred] Thompson, all in attendance, maxing out for the senator,” said Tran, one of the area’s biggest McCain boosters. “When the senator was introduced, he got a standing ovation. When he finished his presentation, he got a standing ovation. So the conservative wing is coming together in support of Sen. John McCain, and that was apparent in Newport Beach this afternoon.”

Yes, I know, as good Republicans, we are SUPPOSED to rally behind the Republican nominee, but...with all the scuttlebutt I was hearing before, I thought it would be bit more difficult...

Does this mean these same Conservatives will actually come out to vote on Election Day?

I sure hope so.
