Banning Ranch - Who's Paying Attention

Banning Ranch was part of Newport Beach's 2006 General Plan Update.

Nice view to be had huh?

We voted on how it was to be developed...if/when Newport Beach officially takes possession of it.

For obvious reasons, the landowners would prefer to have Newport Beach address, but of course, Costa Mesa wants to include it in their City.

The Daily Pilot wrote up a little article,

but more interesting, the LA Times has picked up this issues with a much more comprehensive article, aptly named:

"In land-use dispute, Newport Beach has a foot in the door"

When it comes to property disputes, I wonder if Newport Beach City Manager Homer Bludau feels the same way about Banning Ranch as he does about the Santa Ana Country Club and it's neighboring neighborhoods saying,

"We are entering a new era of cooperation with the city of Costa Mesa, and it would be the wrong thing to do (regarding the Santa Ana Club Country Club annexation) to foster that relationship,” Bludau said.

So if it will hurt our Newport Beach/Costa Mesa relationship if Newport annexes that area, what will happen once Newport Beach officially takes over Banning Ranch?

But again...nice view though huh?
