CDM Chamber did a great job!

Attended the CDM end of summer Coastline Car Classic today!
Was a really terrific day at the beach with mostly all the
neighbor kids! Didn't know how many locals love their old
cars. How good was this event? It was so good that we didn't
even win a trophy but we still enjoyed every minute! Some
cars came from as far a less than a block away! We added
some 1.8 miles to the odometer of our El Camino...total;
from departure to return home - which included a detour
to drop off one of the participant's husband at his car
parked at the Oasis Center!

As car shows go, the $50 buck entry fee initially sounded
rather stout. Once we got there and looked around...got our
ditty bag and chatted with some of the other competitors...it
was just fine! Actually got a really good hamburger, fell in
love with the donut lady....and generally had a lovely day.

Hey, we even rubbed shoulders with Congressman John Campbell,
(we are in his district!)...he had brought two very cool vintage
Corvettes. His '63 White Split Window with impeccable red
interior won first prize in his category and rightly so! Our
great new Chief of Police John Klein brought his family and still
had time to stop by to say hi! Councilman Keith Curry and his
lovely wife offered honest hugs! Wow, it was just a really nice
event, with professional commentators - great security and believe
or not - some just great neighbor kids! When we say "kids", what
we are talking about are all us "consensus fogeys" that are still
able to laugh, have fun and act like "kids". Kent Moore tried
to run me over with the event Golf Cart! Just kidding! Some truly
beautiful, rare and unique autos were in evidence! The surf band
was great, a super a'capella version of the Star-Spangled Banner
and they even did the Pledge of Allegiance correctly!

At any rate, the CDM Chamber with all their beautiful ladies.....
did a super job. They even brought out the two female stars from
the new Orange County Reality Show to hand out the trophies! Let's
just say...it was one...great day at the beach!
