Rosansky in his re-election bid. We have already voted
early in District #2 for Gloria Alkire. She seems like
a nice lady and we already had issues with originally
unelected - but chosen - Steve R.!
In today's Register/Local Section...we found: "Politician
owns an eyesore" by Jeff Overly. We like Jeff...he is a
no nonsense pragmatic type that we believe tries to report
the news ...as best he sees it. As everyone knows, Steve R.
is on the target list of the "Concerned Citizens of Newport
Beach"...that just made it as Number #103.....of the Daily
Pilot's Most Influential list...that we reported on earlier.
So, cutting to the chase; Steve seems to be a "slumlord" as
reported in the Register. Assistant City Manager Sharon
Wood seems to think the state of the Rosansky property is a
so bad that it is a "Public Nuisance"....which has generated
fines starting as far back as in June of 2007. The "Public
Nuisance" moniker is still "not enough to warrant criminal
charges" just yet says: Wood.
OK, we might remind everyone at this time about the famous
Sid Soffer case. Sid was the owner/operator of Sid's Blue
Beat down by the NB Pier and his other location up on Old
Newport Road. Sid continually caused problems at City Council
meetings in both Newport Beach and Costa Mesa. City Staffers
got put on the job to cause Sid grief. They ordered Sid to
remove several antique cars in front or on the side of his
restaurant up on Old Newport Road (rusting we must admit)
and because of his delay was found to be "in contempt of
court" finally....sentenced to jail....Sid ran off to Las
Vegas....and sadly died there several years later...away
from his beloved Newport-Mesa world. Sid was cranky but
humble.
Rosansky seems to be flirting with danger here and we would
advise the cranky and arrogant, Councilman....to pay closer
attention to his obvious civic responsibilities in this regard.
Rosansky is not a "civilian"....he is designated until thrown
out as a "City Father" and is supposed to set the example....
not be one!
In any event, we must fault Steve for at least "not paying
proper attention" during an election cycle! Does he in fact
rent to REHAB homes? Did he always have a conflict of interest
when the city was very engaged in trying to regulate these
facilities? Who knows? Eventually, it will all come out...one
way or the other - we certainly hope! The "Concerned Citizens
of Newport Beach" seem to be on the job...so we may see..soon
enough!
In the meantime, Steve.....clean up your property and make
it snappy! Steve, you have six days left!
