He is no longer representing the Rehab Homes.
Scott took time out of his busy schedule to speak to me from very snowy Iowa, where he is working very hard for Republican Presidential Candidate Mitt Romney.
He broke it down for me.
Essentially, he was retained to try to find a resolution between the Rehab/Sober Living Homes and the City Council and Residents of Newport Beach.
And since it appears as though there will be no lawsuit-free compromise, he will no longer be representing them.
Simple as that.
No conspiracy theories, no bitterness, no hard feelings.
The sky is still blue (actually it's gray today).
But he still wants to try and help to find a solution.
And he is right, in order for there to be a solution, there will need to be compromise.
And all sides need to realize that.
Our City Leaders, our Residents Rehab Activists, and the Rehab Home Operators all need to come to that conclusion.
But, whether it's the charge of discrimination by the Rehab Homes, or the charge of not doing enough by the Resident's groups, it appears as though no compromise will occur and only lawsuits will prevail.
At least my Chairman will no longer be part of this ugliness.
...and I am relieved.
It was a good chat.
