Dried Rose Petals {Ingredient}

We all know the beauty uses of rose. I had even published a post on how to make Rose Milk at home which was a failed experiment but the result was great. Shall post the one which I was trying actually when I succeed. So, I just wanted to share this little thing.

My mother has a very old habit of collecting the withered roses from the plant and dry them so I have a huge amount of dried rose petals. You could also try that out next time your garden is full of roses. My mom collects only red and maroon roses, btw, and sometimes pink. Well, you might be aware that only red roses are used for extracting rose oil or preparing its essential oil or even while making fragrances. So, collecting and storing dried rose petals are really beneficial coz you can use them in any DIY's and since these are dehydrated, you can also make oils and your own fragrances with rose infusions. Roses are among the very few flowers you can store otherwise most of them just rot if you try to dry them :( And, I love pressing roses in between the books. That seems romantic though it might be cruel for the flowers but the flowers look best in the garden and no where else.So, next time you see a withered rose, you might think of using it for your beauty routines.

Skin Firming Mask {DIY}

Again a recipe including the rose milk I made couple of days back.

Ingredients:
  • Besan / Gram flour
  • Rose Milk
Method: Mix the requisite amount of besan and rose milk and form a nice scrubby mixture. Apply a thick layer on the face and neck and let it dry. It will take around 15-20 minutes to dry completely so relax in the meantime. The mixture dries into a very hard mask and makes the skin feel extremely tight. Now, remove the besan by wetting it a little and gently scrubbing it on the skin. You would see an instant difference in the firmness of the skin. And, it might leave a pinkish glow on the face too :)

Cleanse your face with Rose Milk {DIY}

I had posted about the DIY rose milk I made couple of days back. I used it to cleanse my face at night with it without using any cleanser. Since the texture of the milk is scrubby but not spiky so it is perfect for a 2-in-1 cleansing at night. The cleansing action of the rose milk is due to the lactic acid present in milk so I am not sure how well the rose milk made from water would cleanse the skin.

Take a little of the rose milk in your hand and rub it on your face just like a cleanser. Massage the face very gently. The soft rose petals do not exfoliate the skin as such such but they feel nice against the skin and make the skin super soft. It can be drying for some too so following with a moisturizer is very important. But, it cleanses the face really well.

I do not wear makeup and I wasn't even wearing kajal so I am not sure how well it will remove the makeup though it can be used in conjunction with the makeup remover.

How to make Rose Milk {DIY}

I did a very interesting DIY lately so sharing the recipe with you.

Ingredients:

  • Rose petals
  • Milk / Water

Method: You can soak the rose petals overnight in milk or make the rose milk from fresh flowers. If you are soaking petals overnight, then pour enough milk to cover the rose petals and no more otherwise it might spill while blending. Blend the petals in milk. The texture would be scrubby instead of being plain milky. You can use this milk in any beauty routine.

I have used pink, maroon and red roses so the result was a pretty purple. I haven't yet figured how to use the milk so will post on it later. This will probably stay for two weeks in the fridge but I made it in not a very huge quantity so it will get finished before two weeks.

Important:
  • Oily skin people should stay away from milk and dairy products so you can soak the petals in water.
  • You can also use essential oils in the milk.
