I Love Prednisone & I ain't foolin'

I love prednisone in the summer, I love prednisone in the fall, I love prednisone in the winter, and I got my hands on some today because I am very very lucky and this doesn't have to rhyme.

I've had two itis-es since Saturday: laryng- and bronch-, and finally went to the doctor today. I was already on the mend. That's how it always works. She told me to use my inhaler every four hours but the albuterol wasn't doin' nothin. So she gave me 10 20-mg tablets of prednisone--co-pay only $2.40. What can beat that?

I love prednisone because it's the one thing that always cures my very bad asthma or bronchitis. I try to avoid it because it's not good for you--I treat it as the last resort. In fact, I wrote a long poem about it as last resort many many years ago, when I was at a resort of sorts, an artists colony in the middle of allergens. The poem was almost accepted in a feminist magazine's special issue on invisible disabilities, but the editor objected to a line about breaking the back of something, maybe capitalism. It was ableist to be seeing a broken back as negative, that was the argument, though the back that was being broken was sheerly metaphorical. Maybe that made it worse. Anyway, it's probably one of the better poems in English about prednisone.

Stanley Elkin wrote a wonderful essay, Out of One's Tree: My Bout With Temporary Insanity, about craziness caused by high doses of prednisone he was taking to treat breathing problems caused by his MS. He might also have been taking it for the MS itself. I sent a copy of the Elkin essay to my cousin D, after our family dinner was briefly interrupted by a call from one of his patients. D is a psychiatrist, a psychoanalyst yet, and I think he had to admit his patient to a hospital because she was suffering from prednisone side effects. But I never take it long enough to be so affected. I don't think.

Lotus Herbals WHITEGLOW Oatmeal and Yogurt Skin Whitening Scrub {Product Review}

This is one of the best products I have been using lately. So, lets proceed to see why it works??

Ingredients

Lotus Herbals is a herbal brand but not free of chemicals so it has its own share of them as you can see in the pic. The active ingredients include oatmeal and yogurt as stated in the name though they appear in the middle of the ingredient list (not the highest concentration of the active ingredients).

My Experience

So, in the pic, you see what the company says about the product and its method of usage. Of course, you all must already be familiar with how to use a scrub. I like to use this scrub after cleansing my face and I generally use it in shower. There is a reason to that which I'll tell you in a minute.

So, this scrub is very yogurty in look and feel too. For the first time, a scrub has looked so different to me. Its just as if you have dried the yogurt and powdered it. It is quiet granular and the granules are not at all spiky or ragged that they will tear at your skin. They are just enough granular to provide a good exfoliation. And, its smell is kinda weird. I donno how to classify it but you can like it or you might not like it but it is definitely not overpowering. Instead, the smell is quite subtle.

Now, coming to the claims of this scrub, yes, it does pass all the tests you can hope. No, it will not turn you white and into a fairy after a single use. But, it considerably makes your skin brighter and removes tanning to quite an extent. The reason I am saying this is coz I have used it on my arms and this one is one of the few products which actually showed a difference (not a lot but yes better enough to be considered). That's the reason I like to use this in the shower and it is easy to apply on the neck too in the shower.

My Recommendation

I do not really end up falling for many products and this is one I like. So, yes, you will like it too and its pretty much affordable and lasts quite long if used only on face and neck. Since I am using on the arms, I think it might go away soon. So, go ahead and give it a try!! And, for the record, almost all the bloggers (wherever I have read till now) have given it a thumbs up.

Writing Eye-Catching, Interesting Tweets

Twitter won't do you much good if no one bothers to click your links. Writing eye-catching, interesting tweets involves the same general concept as writing strong e-mail headlines. You must pique their interest and make them curious to see what you have to offer.

Using Twitter to Establish a Brand

Twitter is a very simple social networking application. But when it comes to using Twitter for marketing purposes, there are all sorts of intricacies involved. You've got to attract the right kinds of followers, use proper etiquette to avoid alienating them, and choose the right topics to tweet about. And perhaps most importantly, you've got to remember that marketing on Twitter is more about building your brand than making sales.

Those who go into it hoping to increase their sales by "X" percent in 6 months are often in for a rude awakening. It quite simply does not work that way. There are several possible reasons that a business might not do well on Twitter. Some locally-oriented businesses just aren't well suited to it. Some marketers fail to attract a relevant following. But in many cases, it's a matter of not using proper etiquette.

Good etiquette is important in all aspects of life and social networking is certainly no exception. To avoid alienating your followers, there are a few simple rules you can follow. First off, don't try to make a sale with every message. Be personable and conversational. Instead of saying “buy this,” make casual references to your offerings where appropriate and inform followers about sales and incentives.

And don't make the mistake of thinking that your Twitter account should be all about you. Join in conversations that others start, and retweet funny or insightful tweets from other Twitterers. This lets followers know that there's a real person behind that username, and that's important to many of them.

Earth Hour Day 2011

So, Happy Earth Hour Day 2011 to all of you!! So, are you gonna switch off all the lights for an hour today in the evening?? I sure will though can't say about the timing but definitely one hour after its dark. Save energy and save Earth :)

A completely dark evening very much reminds me of my childhood when there were regular or rather very often power cuts and all the neighbors used to get together and spend the evening in chitchats and children used to play non-stop and make a lot of noise at the same killing the mosquitoes biting you all around and making sure the tortoise coils are lit :D I used to especially enjoy such times at my grandparents house when all the relatives were assembled. How I miss those days!!! So, what are your fav memories of dark evenings???

DEFINISI HTTP DAN HTTPS

HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol) adalah suatu protokol yang digunakan oleh WWW (World Wide Web). HTTP mendefinisikan bagaimana suatu pesan bisa diformat dan dikirimkan dari server ke client. HTTP juga mengatur aksi-aksi apa saja yang harus dilakukan oleh web server dan juga web browser sebagai respon atas perintah-perintah yang ada pada protokol HTTP ini.

Contohnya bila kita mengetikkan suatu alamat atau URL pada internet browser maka web browser akan mengirimkan perintah HTTP ke web server. Web server kemudian akan menerima perintah ini dan melakukan aktivitas sesuai dengan perintah yang diminta oleh web browser. Hasil aktivitas tadi akan dikirimkan kembali ke web browser untuk ditampilkan kepada kita.

Sementara HTTPS (Securre HTTP) merupakan bentuk protokol yang aman karena segala perintah dan data yang lewat protokol ini akan diacak dengan berbagai format sehingga sulit untuk dibajak isinya maupun dilihat perintah-perintah yang dieksekusi.

So what do we mean when we say information products?

For instance a product could tell people how to train a dog, lose weight, design a website, cure bad breath, meet members of the opposite sex, put up shelves, apply makeup, or paint a portrait using oil paintings.

An information product can be made in video form, as en ebook, or as an audio recording. Some types of information products lend themselves better to one form than another. For instance if you are telling people how to apply makeup you definitely need visuals, so a video would be best. An audio recording wouldn’t do the trick in this case and an ebook would need to have a lot of screenshots.

If you want to tell someone how to meet members of the opposite sex, however, an ebook or an audio recording would work well.

And if you want to tell someone how to train a dog, an ebook with screen shots, or a video, would work equally well.

Find your subject, then decide on the best way to present it – ebook, audio, video etc.

Scar project

I just came across this. This is one of a number of pictures of young women 18-35 who had breast cancer. The photographer is David Jay and you can find info about his book and project here.

I don't particularly love this picture with its S&M overtones (Hang 'er on the rack! It's not enough that we've sliced off her breasts!) but at least she's pretty and sexy in a Hollywood noir kind of way, and more importantly, it was the only photo from the web site that I was technically able to copy and paste.
