How You Can Easily Make Your Own Slushie and Icy Drinks At Home

Are you one of those people who go to Starbucks to spend something like $5 on a slushie? Don’t do this. Save this money by making your own slushie at home.  Yes, it is possible and for this, all you have to do this is get a snow cone maker. This machine looks like a blender, but its blade is much thicker and thus, is programmed to change ice cubes into small fine pieces. You can use these pieces to make either slurpee or slushie of your choice. Good news is that it is available at Wal-Mart and that is also under $20.

Majority of these snow cone makers come with a recipe book that gives instructions on how you can make delicious icy drinks by using juice, yoghurt, coffee and even whole milk you have in your fridge. So after buying one, you will not be left in doubt on what to do with it!

Now there is already a thing called slushie maker.  I would not recommend getting it because it is slightly expensive. Of course, if you are okay with spending more money you are free to buy it. But snow maker seems to be the best option, for it is more affordable. Interestingly, it makes things fun in the realm of juice. So even if you hate drinking you will not be able to resist what it provides. Yet one thing you must know is that the ordinary straws do not fit slushie drinks. So you have to make sure that you get the fatter ones like those found in 7-11 and Starbucks. Additionally, if you do not have ice cube trays or a fridge that makes ice cubes your snow maker will become useless for you. The reason is that it just crashes ice into fine pieces and you have to provide it from ice cube tray or fridge.

This post is not intended to promote any specific brand, but to show how you can save your money by making your own slushie at home while avoiding Starbucks.

The new fountain of youth

[This is how I would look having coffee in London in 1740 if I were male. I'm the one in the powdered wig and breeches.]

All of us are terrified about losing our memories. About getting Alzheimer's. About forgetting just enough to realize how much we have lost. About becoming piteous burdens. Coffee can help! It seems so simple, so American, so gung-ho we can do it--didja know that the cure was right in our cupboards? Well, it seems to be true. Mice who were given coffee or a coffee-ish substance could remember better how to run through their mazes or open the drawer that housed the cheddar, or whatever the scientists were having them do, better than mice who didn't get a cappuccino.

Specifically: Researchers at the University of South Florida found that the caffeine in drip coffee, as well as an ingredient in coffee that they couldn't isolate, can stave off Alzheimer's. And, there's more! The USF web site sez: An increasing body of scientific literature indicates that moderate consumption of coffee decreases the risk of several diseases of aging, including Parkinson’s disease, Type II diabetes and stroke. Just within the last few months, new studies have reported that drinking coffee in moderation may also significantly reduce the risk of breast and prostate cancers. This will be reported in the June 28 issue of the Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease, 25(2). More here: http://hscweb3.hsc.usf.edu/health/now/?p=19816

Homemade Coffee Hand Scrub

Well, today, I would like to share a scrub which I made for my hands. I do not have much time to spare for manicure and pedicure. So, I thought I can at least make a hand scrub which will keep my hands beautiful and soft. Its nothing complicated. Just drop your favorite scrub into your hand wash.

What I did?
I had 2-3 small hand wash liquid tubes which I got as complimentary in a hotel. So, I did not know how to use them. I also ran out of my hand wash liquid. So, I emptied the tubes into hand wash bottle and mixed it with water to keep the soapy consistency but increase the volume. Then, I mixed it with a little of vitamin E oil and some coffee powder. And, my hand scrub is ready. It keeps my skin soft and smooth. The scrub works wonders on your skin. You can feel the difference in just a day. You can use it after every household activity you perform like laundry, cleaning utensils, cleaning your house, et cetera. The oil would not let your hands dry up and the coffee granules would keep on renewing your skin by exfoliating it. If you do not like to exfoliate your skin so often, you can use this scrub once in 2 or 3 days. That should do the job and you would see no need for manicure.
But, if you use a bottle with pump action to squeeze the soap, refrain from storing the scrub in such a bottle as the coffee will get stuck in the pipe. Use a normal pour from bottle to store the scrub.
